PLEASE NOTE ALL WATER ON THE ALLOTMENT IS DRAWN FROM THE BURN RUNNING INTO ALLAN WATER AND IS NOT FIT FOR DRINKING.
As mentioned elsewhere on the web site the area under cultivation was created out of abandoned allotments back in 2004. The land is on something of a slope so there are plots that can be a bit of a challenge to work and an element of terracing is required.
All new members taking on the allotment experience for the first time are required to start on smaller "starter plots" for the first year or so.

All new members taking on the allotment experience for the first time are required to start on smaller "starter plots" for the first year or so.
- to ensure the new plot-holder does not take on too much initially and then find themselves neglecting a larger area of land.
- to allow the committee and other plot holders to see a level of commitment that will be deserving of a larger plot at a later date.
The starter plots are at the bottom (quite literally) of the allotment and are numbered 49 through to 56.
There is a biodiversity plot (24) towards the centre of the allotment which has, in the past, proved difficult to cultivate. The committee therefore decided to change how the plot is maintained. Please take a look at the section Biodiversity Plot by clicking the hyperlink.
As shown on the plan there are two sheds (to the left). One of the sheds contains communal tools (mainly petrol driven) that can be used by anyone with an acceptable level of competence and confidence. Please ask a committee member (drop us a line on the Contact Us page or approach us on the allotment if you know who we are) if you want to use a piece of equipment but are a bit unsure. The tools should not be removed from the allotment (unless for maintenance/repair).
